Press Release- June 6, 2018
The Dungsam Polymers Limited (DPL) during its 7th Annual General Meeting held on 23rd March 2018, Thimphu, decided to inform the shareholders about its status through a Press Release.
Ever since the company embarked into the commercial operation in 2012, the DPL made a tremendous progress in the production of polypropylene (PP) bags not only for cement factory but also for many other purposes. Although DCCL is our main customer, other customers include PCAL, Karma Feed, RSA Pvt. Ltd., BMG Feed, FMCL, FCBL, AWP and individuals etc. we also have few customers from across border. Since the profit margin for polymers business is thin by nature, it has to be on volume based. Although DPL could not declare any profit within a span of six years but it has managed to reduce losses from Nu. 19.24 million in 2012 to Nu. 6.25 million in 2017. The losses are mainly due to depreciation and high finance cost. Further, the capacity utilization of the plant has increased from 21% in the year 2012 to over 50% and produces 50,000 to 60,000 bags per day. Likewise the revenue has increased from Nu. 27.41 million in 2012 to Nu. 146.095 million in 2017.
The Board and the Management of DPL always see the light at the end of the tunnel and we are optimistic. DPL always upholds the sense of gratitude to our shareholders’ for having patience and having faith in us. Further, the shareholders can access information from the company’s website www.dpl.bt .
